Mayor of High Wycombe

Current Office holders

The current Mayor of High Wycombe is  Councillor Chaudhary Allah Ditta.

Chaudhary Ditta was born in Kashmir in 1953.  In 1966 Chaudhary Ditta came to England  from Pakistan.    He lived in Newcastle with his father, attended school and was very keen on sport, particularly cricket.  In 1972 he married Maqsood Begum and they came to Wycombe in 1973 where Chaudhary Ditta initially worked at G-Plan.  He was determined to start his own business which he did in the late 1970s running a retail business in London while still living in High Wycombe.  He went on to own three shops in High Wycombe and retains one today in Bowerdean. 

Between 1992 and 2002 Chaudhary was very active in politics within his own community.  He was Chair of Mirpur Linking, a cultural exchange organisation.  He was active in a Kashmir welfare organisation and has been vice chair of CRE and a member of the Mosque committee.  In addition he has been a member of many community organisations and charities. 

He and his wife have six children all of whom are now grown up.  They have five grandchildren.

In 2003 he was elected as a Wycombe District Councillor for Bowerdean Ward and as this is a town ward he became a Charter Trustee.  He was re-elected in 2007 and 2011 for this town ward. 

Cllr Chaudhary Allah Ditta was unanimously voted in for the office of Mayor at an Extraordinary Meeting of the Charter Trustees following the local government elections.

During his acceptance speech, the Mayor said that:

“I am looking forward to the year ahead when I will be meeting many people. It will be an opportunity to understand more about the organisations that exist in this town.

The office of Mayor in this Town has provided continuity since the year 1285.  I intend to do justice to the Mayoralty in the year 2011 to 2012.”

Mayoress of High Wycombe

Mayoress Mrs Jane White on the scales!

 

The current Mayoress of High Wycombe is Mrs Jane White, last year’s Mayor. 

Jane says that she was honoured to take on this role at the Mayor’s request and with his family’s approval.  Jane will be able to share the knowledge and experience she gained during her year in office and is looking  forward to another year of serving her home town.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Deputy Mayor and Deputy Mayoress

The current Deputy Mayor of High Wycombe is Councillor Trevor Snaith.

Cllr Trevor Snaith has lived in High Wycombe for over 23 years .  He was born in Newcastle upon Tyne and relocated to High Wycombeto work for G D Searle. Trevor has been involved in a number of local businesses and worked on many local community projects.

Trevor is married to Sandra and they have two children.

Trevor was first elected as a town councillor in May 2007 and again in May 2011 to the Ryemead Ward. He is a member of the High Wycombe Town Committee and serves on various other committees.

Trevor is very proud and honoured to be the Deputy Mayor of High Wycombewhich is now his adopted home town.

Trevor’s interests include DIY, Half Marathon running and working with local community groups

The current Deputy Mayoress of High Wycombe is Sandra Snaith.

Sandra Snaith is also from Newcastle upon Tyne and has been married to Trevor for over 25 years.
